McCarthy
Olive has been a partner
at Breeze and Wyles Solicitors since 2004 and deals with mainly
the resolution of the finances following a relationship breakdown.
She is the head of the Family Department over all five offices
of Breeze and Wyles; Hertford, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, Bishops Stortford
and Enfield.
Olive is a long standing
member of Resolution and is on the Law Society Family Law Panel.
She continues to retain a franchise with the Legal Services Commission
providing legal aid to those who qualify and Olive remains committed
to the ethos that regardless of means, it is a person’s
right to be able to have legal advice. Olive is currently the
voluntary solicitor for the Broxbourne Citizens Advice Bureau
and is a Trustee of the East Herts and Broxbourne Domestic Violence
Forum. Olive is at present trying to set up a Contact Centre to
enable absent parents to have contact with their children in a
secure and safe environment in the Hertford area.
Olive has recently
trained as a Collaborative Lawyer, having felt that there must
be an alternative to the traditional approach to resolving disputes
between a couple. There are certainly circumstances where the
traditional approach is appropriate but the Collaborative Law
process gives a person a further option about how they wish to
deal with their matter at such a difficult time.
Olive remains somewhat
lucky to still feel, after nearly 8 years of practising and specialising
in Family Law, completely passionate about being a family solicitor.
In her spare time Olive
loves to go for long country walks and travel the world with her
husband .
