Thurston
Background
A degree in law led to a career as a solicitor for Amanda - training
and initially working in London. In 2002 Amanda left the “rat
race” and took 7 months off to take an extended honeymoon
to travel round the world. After that, she had to come back to
reality and returned to work as a solicitor.
Since
2003 Amanda has worked and lived in Hertfordshire. Amanda has
been a member of Resolution and on the specialist Law Society
Family Law Panel for many years due to her involvement in family
issues.
Collaborative
Approach
When the idea of the Collaborative Approach was introduced Amanda
appreciated the opportunity to try and find a better route to
resolving matrimonial and family problems. She therefore trained
in 2005 as a specialist Collaborative Lawyer and got involved
with local family solicitors to work together in bringing this
innovative new approach to Hertfordshire.
Amanda
is keen to work with any approach which promises to resolve all
the issues arising from relationship breakdowns in a dignified
and civilised manner. Particularly if the approach also means
avoiding antagonistic and expensive court action.
Membership
Amanda is currently involved in the following:
- member of Resolution and on the committee of the local, Hertfordshire
group
- on the committee of Hertfordshire's Colaboratve Pod
- member of Law Society’s specialist Family Law Panel
- council member of Hertfordshire Law Society
Away
from work
In her spare time Amanda likes to travel, cook, bell-ring and
spend time in the garden with her chickens (urging them to lay
eggs).
